In the summer of 2024, for the first time in over a decade, Mbiame's diaspora community is returning home in force. Organisers expect over 2,000 visitors from Germany, the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and across Cameroon — the largest homecoming gathering in living memory.

The planning committee, a volunteer group spanning six continents and twelve time zones, has been working for two years. Their vision: not just a festival, but a structured cultural exchange programme that connects returning diaspora members with village elders, young entrepreneurs, and community projects.

"We want every person who comes home to leave with something to carry back," says lead organiser Ngala Kevin. "Not just memories, but knowledge — about where we came from, and where we're going."

Programmes include the annual Ngiri dance showcase, a new documentary screening series, a craft market, language immersion sessions, and a groundbreaking ceremony for the new community library.
