The Ngiri dance is one of the most revered ceremonial performances in Mbiame culture. Performed exclusively during major royal festivals, it tells the story of the community's founding ancestors through elaborate footwork, drumming, and sacred regalia.

Members of the Ngiri society undergo years of training before they are permitted to perform in public. The discipline required extends beyond the physical — initiates must memorise oral histories, learn to read the drum language, and demonstrate moral character as judged by senior members.

The dance itself is structured in three acts: the arrival procession, the central battle re-enactment, and the peace offering. Each is accompanied by distinct drumming patterns that communicate specific messages to the watching community.
